Games are a great way to enhance fun learning for all ages.

Here is more about a new game that is in BETA, Radix Endeavor for high school students. It could be used by adults needing to pass the STEM part of the GED. I signed up to play and created an Avitar.  Why don't you introduce this to higher level adults and see what they think?

Free Regular GED Book Available Online

This is free to anyone in Florida.  Ideally, the GED books by each subject are better for low level students. They are less intimidating, but this is still a good resource. Audio is available --machine reader makes it boring but--for someone who really wants the info.. does make it more accessible to low level readers.

Master the GED Test Now Available (again) on the FEL

The Division of Library and Information Services is pleased to announce the availability of a new e-Reference title in the Florida Electronic LibraryGale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) collection.
Master the GED Test, 28th edition is available for unlimited, simultaneous access by users anywhere in Florida. It is a comprehensive GED study guide that helps students improve their scores with a blend of hands-on exercises, subject reviews and test taking strategies. Inside you'll find:
  • Five full-length practice tests, including access to two online, all with detailed answer explanations.
  • Helpful reviews of all subjects, with sample questions and answers to boost test preparation efforts.
  • A word list to improve GED test vocabulary.
  • Valuable details on the 2014 GED test structure, scoring and passing requirements.
You'll find Master the GED Test under the Education subject heading on the left-hand menu in the GVRL. We encourage you to create a bookmark and link to it on your library's website. Not sure where? Try it as a featured, or new, resource on your front page; in your electronic resources section; or in the Education, GED or Testing & Study Guides subject areas. Also, please share the link with your local literacy groups, GED testing center, and any other organizations that assist GED test takers.

VALF Annual Meeting May 9, Friday, Daytona Beach

Attend our VALF (Volunteers for Adult Literacy in Florida) annual meeting that follows an INTERACTIVE mini-workshop on learning cognates in Spanish (and other languages): i.e., knowing that "Es importante" means
"It is important" could be beneficial in communicating with your Spanish-speaking ELLs.
Sign up for the chance to win a door prize at our VALF exhibit and come to the annual meeting to learn who was successful at getting a VALF grant this year. The door prizes will be awarded at our annual meeting, and you must be present to win.  If you are a VALF member, you will have the chance to win some of the better prizes.
The VALF meeting is always part of the Florida Literacy Conference on Friday morning.
