Library State Aid drops Back

The State Aid to Libraries Grant Program increasaed to 27 million dollars in the year ending September 30, 2015. The legislature is about to vote on the final budget on Friday for October 1, 2015- September 30, 2016, dropping the funding back to last year's $22 million.

This large cut will impact libraries and the services they support, like adult literacy. It is really a done deal, but is not too early to start making a case for next year.

Libraries that support literacy programs often depend on State Aid to supplement local funding.

Share your stories on our blog about how libraries support adult basic education, adult literacy, getting a GED and volunteers that tutor adults in basic reading and speaking skills.

Tell everyone how your library helps make a difference in educating their communities.
