These may include learner interviews; learner journals; learner portfolios; or any 'tool' that enables you to track skill development from enrollment to now. These tools may not be acceptable for programs that are required to submit formal assessment data but they are a wonderful supplement to the TABE, BEST, CASAS, and others. We are not required to implement formal assessment tools and we have elected to utilize the informal process to collect data, guide goal development, and reinforce progress with both the learner and tutor. It is a non-threatening and valuable approach to tracking progress.
