Adult Learning Activities provides a menu of topics with newspaper articles designed to be used by adult learners independently. Topics are: working, law and government, family, school, health and safety, housing, money, science and technology, services, going places and nature. Each article can be read as s summary or s a longer story.
You can listen to the story, learn new words, spell the words, answer questions related to the story and print or e-mail your results. Tutors could assign the activities to be done independently between lessons. I like this because the story is read by a natural voice, and it provides multiple opportunities for practice and review. It even gives you a chance to write and is designed in a clean simple format accessible to many learners.
Tutors could review the site and read one story with the learner so they both see how it works. After that, depending of their level, learners can work on their own. Once they finish a session, they can e-mail their work to their tutor.
If you have used this before or any other similar site, please add your comments, reviews and recommendations below.
