Ahaleh,
an English as a Second Language (ESL) student aspiring to become a stylist was
accepted to “hair School” as she calls it, thanks to help from the library
providing her a class to learn English.
Lyudmyla
is a new citizen of the United States because of the library’s help.
Valentian,
from Romania, and Thida, from Cambodia, are e-mailing each other in between
classes which helps them practice their English all because of the literacy
program.
One
student recently began work at the GED Academy at Florida State Colleges after
attending library classes for a year. She raised her reading skills three grade
levels and has enough reading skills to attend the more advanced classes.
