It is not too early to start planning for National Literacy Month. International Literacy Day is September 8. Most programs have expanded the day and hold activities throughout the month. The Florida Governor's wife spoke at a Florida State Park last year.
You may want to consider partnering with public libraries this year. The state park system will waive park entrance fees again Sunday, September 8 and on Veterans Day, November 11.
To celebrate special occasions, entry into Florida's state parks will be FEE-FREE on the following days in 2013.
- Sunday, September 8 - International Literacy Day - Admission is waived for anyone who has a library card, a book checked out from the library or donates a new or gently used, family-friendly book at any state park.*
- Monday, November 11 – Veterans Day – Free for all*
You may want to attend the following webinar with you local library staff to learn more about this year's activities. In past years, local public libraries have provided activities in their local park.
